How to care for $1 wigs
Wigs are great hair accessories that most women and some men love to wear. They are a great way to change your hairstyle, even hide a hairdo that went bad. Some people even wear wigs professionally as part of their job requirements such as judges and actors. As with anything else $1 wigs do need care and attention or else they will not serve you for as long as expected.

In as much as it feels as if you are giving your own hair a break, you still have to maintain and care for your $1 wigs. Before you undertake the task of caring for your wig it is important that you have the right tools and accessories with you.

Purchase a wig brush, comb, shampoo and conditioner from a beauty store near you. It is very important that you do not use regular hair shampoo as this tends to be very harsh on the hair strands of the $1 wigs.

Place your lace front wigs on wig heads if available and brush your way through knots and tangles. Always work your way from the top as you head down to the bottom. This way you can avoid making any tangles worse. As you brush your wig make sure you spray a bit of conditioner on it as well.

Shiny wigs are cheap looking and if you find your $1 wigs have that excessive sheen apply a bit of baby powder and dust any excess particles off. When it comes to the storage of the wigs make sure you store these $1 wigs in a cool and dry place. Any damp areas might provide breeding grounds for bacteria to grow which of course would be harmful to your health should you want to wear your wig again.

Where you store your $1 wigs would depend a lot on the type of hair your wigs are made of. If they are made of human hair then it would be important if you stored your hair away from direct sunlight as the rays can cause the hair strands to discolor. Synthetic wigs however will not change color however much they are exposed to sunlight. The type of wig you purchase will depend on your personal preference.

When you wear your $1 wigs and want to style them it is important that you use styling spray specifically for wigs. This will ensure that the hair strands are not weighed down by regular styling products.

Also you cannot use heat on synthetic wigs. The hair strands cannot withstand such extreme temperatures and they will get damaged. However with human hair it is quite possible for you to style it using heat as it would behave in the same manner as your own hair.

If you find your wig to be too voluminous, you can reduce it by placing some cool water in a spray bottle and spraying your $1 wigs with it. Afterwards brush it gently to smooth the hair.
